Costa da Lagoa: lovely retreat which can be accessed only by boat or on foot. We'll take a pleasant short journey by boat to/from the Rio Vermelho Forestry Reserve (two way fare R$ 4). Once at Costa da Lagoa you can walk in the rainforest, drink a Caipirinha or have lunch in one of the local family-run seafood restaurants, looking out across the lagoon at one of the most beautiful views in the region.

Mocambique: part of the Rio Vermelho forestry reserve, popular with surfers, shelves steeply at high tide. It is the lengthiest beach in the Island with more than 12km (about 8 miles) of sand. There is no infrastructure for visitors at Mocambique beach. Take snaks, fruits and refreshments with you
