There are two major ridges surrounding Beijing: Tai-hang-shan Ridge in the west, Yan-shan Ridge in the north. Guan-gou gorge is where the two ridges meet. It'd been the key pass connecting Mongolia Plateau with Northern China Plain for thousands of years. In history it was of great commercial and military value. Even in modern times, railway (Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway) and highway (Badaling Expressway) still go along the gorge.

Lily - our personal guide in ChinaDuring the 1-day trekking along the gorge, you will have chance to appreciate:

* Villages - hide in deep mountainary area
* Old channels - image how busy it had been in history
* Ju-rong-guan Pass - the key pass on the Great Wall guarding the Guan-gou gorge
* 1st railway project built by Chinese engineers, and it's well-known zig-zag railway upward design by Sir Zhan Tianyou
* Great Wall - if you like, you could climb a wild section of the Great Wall - few tourist has chance to do!

Before you leave, please make appropriate evaluation on your own health condition and likelihood to bear the hardship of 20km's field trekking, equip with appropriate bag, clothes and shoes...right for long-distance field trekking, bring moderate amount of food for lunch, drinkable water of 2-2.5L, fork or scoop, and, pocket enough money (RMB 200-300) for emergent cases. For example, when your health condition do not permit you finish the journey, we may have to drop off and call a taxi sending you back directly.

I'll be glad to visit The Great Wall together. I would like to offer you one of the most interesting places in the world - The Great Wall in China. Hope, you will memorize this tour as the most interesting event in your life!

HOT PRIVATE TOUR IN China - The Great Wall of China
Our private tours in China are waiting for you!!!
Just to look at the sights in Beijing is an enjoyment in itself. However you get so much more when you start to understand the history behind it, plus some of the reasonings why something was built in a certain manner. For example the moat running through the Forbidden city was put there for a purpose.
