Day Trip to Bacau

Be ready to stop at the road side to see interesting sea creatures and reed goods for sale. You can call into Manatuto where ox dung fired pots and figurines are made and sold.

There is a place called Laho just west of Bacau where silk worms cocoons are unravelled and made into garments. A wide range of plants are for sale here including vanilla and fruit plants.

We recommend seeing the colourful School at Vinelale which is approximately 30 km towards Viqueque, and before that the Japanese caves. In Ossu district a 30 min walk at the highest point where it is cool and there are hilly grasslands.
